SHAPE Ecosystem

Shaping the Green Transition

What’s SHAPE?

SHAPE is an ecosystem launched by Mirka to accelerate the development of new solutions for the (re)manufacturing industry. SHAPE focuses on reshaping the life cycles of products and materials by boosting circularity, finding sustainable material solutions, piloting new business concepts and by optimizing sustainable processes.

Business Finland has granted 10 million euros in development funding for the SHAPE programme as well as 20 million euros to the ecosystem companies surrounding the project.

SHAPE is a unique project and the first of its kind in Finland.

Research and development themes of the SHAPE ecosystem

  • Boosting circularity

Linking value chains to close resource cycles.

  • Sustainable materials

    Beyond ecodesign.

  • Repair, refurbish and remanufacture

Catching carbon by prolonging product life.

Our mission

The SHAPE Ecosystem aims to extend and transform the life cycles of manufactured products. The ecosystem welcomes companies and organizations across sectors to accelerate remanufacturing into an industry that is good for people, planet, and society.

The ongoing resource and logistics crises and financial turmoil have proved that it pays off to reuse what already exists. Still, the monumental push for reshaping life cycles comes from biodiversity and climate. The SHAPE Ecosystem will focus on boosting circularity, developing innovative materials, creating test-beds for business models and enhancing data driven value chains.

By sparking co-creation and knowledge-sharing across sectors, the ecosystem empowers partners to become forerunners in the booming remanufacturing industry. The collaboration enables the creation of disruptive circular solutions and scalable sustainable business that haven’t been possible before.
