Mirka's Top Tips For Alloy Wheel Repair

Karl Horsley gives us his top tips for Alloy Wheel Repair

  • Always clean the wheel thoroughly before starting any wheel repair, this will allow for an accurate colour match and extended the life of the abrasives by reducing clogging due to road film pick up, for ground in dirt and brake dust use Mirlon to remove effectively.

  • Start sanding with as fine a grade as you can, aluminium is very soft and it doesn't take long before you flatten off areas of alloy, use Abranet Ace for a long life abrasive solution on alloy wheels

  • Use Goldflex pads for awkward areas, this will reduce the cost (due to the low cost per pad compared to folded discs) and increase the speed/quality of repair.
