Mirka has acquired the right to use the Key Flag Symbol for abrasives

The Key Flag Symbol is meant for enterprises that want to stress the Finnish origin of their products or services.
The Key Flag Symbol can be granted to a product that has been manufactured in Finland. In addition, a so-called degree of domestic origin is calculated for each product. The degree of domestic origin is the percentage of Finnish expenses of the total cost price. This calculation takes into account, for example, the raw materials, packing materials, marketing expenses and financing. The degree of domestic origin can vary quite a lot depending on, for example, the raw materials’ proportion of the total costs as not all raw materials are available in Finland. Consequently, the minimum requirement for products is that the degree of domestic origin is over 50 per cent. On average, however, the degree of domestic origin of products using the Key Flag Symbol is over 80 per cent.
