The serial number is located on the end of the tool, next to the removable battery. (link)

On tools with the serial number up to 9341XXXXX001, the serial number is located on the right side of the tool body. (link)
On tools with the serial number 9341XXXXX001 and higher, the serial number is located on the type label.
