Tool Maintenance
Would you buy a Ferrari, use it often and never change the tyres? Would you skip the MOT and never check the oil? Cars are mechanical and therefore require maintenance. What does this have to do with a Mirka sander? Our tools are made to be used and built to last – still, they are mechanical and need to be cared for and properly maintained to give their best. Preventive maintenance is crucial for durability.
Sustainability is at the core of Mirka’s business. We encourage our customers to take diligent care of their tools, as it plays a crucial role in prolonging the product's lifetime. By extending the product's lifetime our customers can contribute to reducing waste and the need for frequent replacements. This helps conserve natural resources and minimizes the environmental footprint associated with tool production and disposal. We see it as a win-win situation. Our customers can fully enjoy the benefits of their Mirka tools while limiting their environmental impact through proper care.
Looking after your Mirka Sander
Some general tips for looking after your sanders include
- Clean the tool from dust, filler and paint
- Use Mirka backing pads that are designed for optimal performance, check which backing pad you should be using.
- Change of backing pad: Check its condition and if necessary, change the backing pad for optimal sanding performance. A worn-out pad can increase the vibration level which can damage the internal mechanics of the machine
- Use/handling of electric cable: Handle with care, the cable should not be bent and twisted sharply
- Do not use the cable as a carry handle
- Do not wrap the cable around the machine
- Protect your tool during transportation

Filters
The filter needs to be cleaned on a daily basis for optimal results
- Check and clean the dust filter without removing it
- If needed, remove the dust filter and continue cleaning it
- When needed, change the dust filter
If there is a possibility of hazardous dust, it is important to replace the filter before resuming the use of the dust extractor.
Dust Bags
- Dust bags are required on all Push & Clean extractors
