New Bonded Wheels for Compact Grinding

Mirka is unveiling a new wheel designed for grinding gears and other workpieces with interference contours. These new Mini Worm Grinding Wheels are made according to customer requirements and designed for precision grinding in restricted geometries.
One of the challenges of gear grinding is that the very shape of the workpiece can give rise to so-called interference contours, which make it difficult for conventional grinding tools to finish the gear teeth properly. To solve this problem, Mirka has developed a special form of bonded abrasive wheel with a diameter of less than 150 mm (5.9”).
These Mini Worm Grinding Wheels enable precision grinding in confined geometries where conventional grinding worms cannot reach. The target applications are the grinding and polishing of gears, e-mobility components and other workpieces with interference contours.
