Measured with dedication. Verified with integrity.
Every choice we make, from the materials we select, to how we manufacture our products, to how they are used and eventually disposed of, leaves an impact on the environment. Yet understanding that impact has not always been easy. That is what Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are designed to change.
We have worked with dedication to make this transparency possible. And now, we are proud to turn that commitment into reality as the first company in the world to publish a third party verified EPD for sandpaper.
Publishing the EPD for our GOLD sanding discs marks the start of a new era in the surface finishing industry.
The data behind an EPD comes from a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), in other words
the 'life story' of a product. For sandpaper, this includes everything from the
extraction of raw materials, transport, and manufacturing to packaging,
distribution, use (including energy or water consumed during sanding), and finally
end-of-life treatment such as landfill or incineration.
Whether your priority is cutting emissions, optimizing
resources, or meeting compliance targets, environmental
footprint data helps you align your actions with your
sustainability goals.
At the same time, these insights drive our own product
development, guiding us to select better raw materials,
improve manufacturing processes, and design products with
a lighter footprint. Every step we take not only advances our
sustainability journey but also supports yours.
From raw materials to factory gate
Alongside publishing the EPD, we also share Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data. While an EPD provides a full picture of a product’s environmental impact across its entire life cycle, PCF data focuses specifically on the greenhouse gas emissions during manufacturing. By publishing both, we offer an even clearer view: the EPD shows the broader impact, and the PCF highlights the climate footprint in detail.
The table below show the PCF results for one 150 mm Gold Grip disc across different grit sizes, from raw material extraction to manufacturing. The PCF method follows the Together for Sustainability (TfS) framework and is compliant with ISO 14067, IPCC GWP 100-year (AR6), and GHG Protocol accounting standards.

Expanding transparency across the entire product portfolio
With our first environmental impact calculations on product level, we mark the start of a broader commitment to environmental accountability.
We’re committed to expanding this approach across our product portfolio using the same internationally recognised methods, to provide reliable and comparable insights to our customers.
