As OEM-aligned plastic repair methods and speciality solutions continue to advance, opportunities to repair rather than replace plastic components are increasing, driving measurable cost efficiencies and environmental benefits. Mirka is partnering with automotive plastic repair innovator 4Plastic to deliver the expertise and OEM-compatible solutions required to support this repair-first approach.
Simon Bloxham, Vice President of Sales at Mirka, Michael LoPrete, Chief Commercial Officer at 4Plastic, Frank Phillips, Chief Executive Officer at 4Plastic and Leonardo Gómez, Business Manager Collision Repair at Mirka, outside the company's headquarters.
The partnership with 4Plastic addresses a critical gap in the market by introducing an ecosystem with proven and rigorously tested OEM-compatible plastic repair solutions that, until now, have been largely limited to leading multi-shop operators (MSOs) and specialised plastic repair networks.
The ecosystem will include:
Backed by significant investment in research and product development, the designated plastic repair methods and products restore common plastic automotive components, such as bumpers, to true OEM-level performance.
By moving away from traditional filler and adhesive-heavy repair methods, Mirka’s and 4Plastic’s approach enables repaired parts to behave, perform, and flex as originally intended, delivering a more durable, reliable, and structurally aligned repair outcome.
When executed right, plastic repairs deliver significant advantages across the entire collision ecosystem. For insurers, it provides a clear pathway to lower overall repair costs by reducing reliance on expensive replacement parts. For consumers, it ensures safer, better-fitting original components, preserving vehicle integrity and avoiding the inconsistencies often associated with aftermarket replacements.
For repairers, the benefits are both operational and financial:
Together, these benefits reinforce plastic repair as a critical pillar in advancing a more efficient and profitable collision repair model.
