Mirka ToolChanger – Seamless Tool Switching for Your Robotic Workflow

From sanding large surfaces to polishing intricate curves, different tasks require different tools. With the ToolChanger, your robot can seamlessly switch between tools equipped with abrasives of different grits, allowing you to maximise the full lifespan of the abrasive materials. It also enables effortless transitions between sanding and polishing heads, making complex, multi-phase finishing jobs more efficient. Additionally, the ToolChanger allows your system to adapt to different surfaces—such as moving from flat panels to rounded or detailed contours—without the need for manual intervention.

The ToolChanger consists of three main components: a module mounted to the robot arm, a connector attached to the sanding or polishing tool itself, and a tool holder where the robot connects and disconnects tools. The system features an ISO 9409-1 compatible flange that can be adapted to fit any mechanical robot coupling and a mechanical locking mechanism that enables the robot to securely attach and detach the tools using its own movement, without the need for any additional energy source.
