Product Families
Depending on the required roughness and general process parameters, we recommend different product families.
CERFINE vitrifed boned tools with corundum and silicon carbide can be used for a variety of grinding applications, from highly productive processes to excellent surfaces.
CERMIC vitrified bonded grinding tools are made using very small grain sizes in order to produce outstanding surface quality with extremely low roughness values.
PROFINE resin-bonded honing rings can be used if additional dampening is required to achieve the desired surface quality.
MICROLITE is used for polishing processes, resulting in extremely low surface roughnesses and very high bearing ratios.
These product families are always combined with our custom-designed bonding systems, e.g. VITRA and VICON. These systems enable high porosity for efficient coolant flow, high wear-resistance, and low grinding forces.

What is the importance of grain selection in bonded abrasive and grinding wheel performance?
Grain selection is a decisive factor in the performance of a grinding tool. However, it also has a significant impact on costs. By specifically selecting the right grain, we will find the optimum economic solution for you, enabling you to manufacture in compliance with the specified tolerances. The selection ranges from silicon carbide, fused, and sintered corundum.
How do different bonding systems affect the durability and precision of bonded abrasives?
The choice of bond strongly affects wheel durability, precision, and surface finish.
In general, vitrified and metal bonds are chosen for high precision and form stability, resin and rubber bonds for smoother finishes and vibration control, and shellac and polyurethane bonds for final polishing.
We customise tools for desired applications and design specifications to achieve the best grinding wheel properties, considering wear resistance, porosity, and grinding forces. We are constantly developing new solutions and are happy to offer a solution that fits your precision grinding needs.
What are the performance classes of Mirka bonded abrasive wheels, and how do they compare?
Not every application requires a specially designed tool. For common applications, we have certain standard specifications available from stock. To ensure maximum efficiency for your operation, we offer abrasive wheels in the following four performance classes:
CLASSIC: Cost-effective solutions with high-performance fused corundum
PERFORMANCE: Powerful all-round specifications with high grinding performance and high profile stability
PREMIUM: Specifications with very high cutting performance and wear resistance for demanding applications
PREMIUM+: For applications with the highest performance requirements in terms of cutting performance, tool life, profile stability and thermal load, even when machining highly demanding materials
